Like many of you, I've stopped dining out as much as possible over the last couple years. Part of that has involved me learning to make my favorite takeout dishes at home. Lately I've been researching Thai/Asian recipes on YouTube, which had the classic, "Amazon links are in the description below . . ", for much of the ingredients
I actually initially ordered all these items pictured off Amazon at the prices pictured a few days ago, but today I stopped into my local Asian Market on my way home from work, purely out of curiosity, and that's when I realized I paid 2x-3x what these items actually sell for. .
All of this to say – do your research before you buy stuff like this! I feel especially for this type of product, which isn't normally sold in western grocery stores, is marked up ridiculously on Amazon because people, like myself a few days ago, don't know any better about pricing. .
Also note that most of these items are "Amazon's Choice", which is supposed to be some reassurance that you're getting the best deal (I think), but alas, just look at how you get fleeced when you don't cross-shop locally or elsewhere. .

Not exactly. Afaik mechanics aren’t 100% clear, they just say its something along the lines of “highly rated, well-priced products available to ship immediately” which obviously doesn’t always mean “cheapest”
Im thinking some of the shipping costs are just absorbed into the product cost for Amazon
