Basically, I'm in high school and with Erasmus+ project half of our class went to a "work trip" to Brussels for 23 days.

We've got total allowance of 600€ and that comes out to 26€/day which is very nice.

The thing is, I would like to leave with at least 400€.

I've already done the basics, like never eating out, buying in bulk in discount stores like Lidl. Avoiding any unnecessary payments or going out.

But it's just not quite enough, I need to budget down a bit harder, live below my means.

So if anyone found themselves in similar situation, give me some of your tips or tricks on how to spend even less.

What are some good tips on how to spend less on vacations/trips?

just so you know :I am in europe too and lidl is actually not cheaper than the supermarket for everything I buy, maybe except for bread and croissants (which I don’t buy); or when some veggies are on sale. (seems to be the same in the US too)

also depends what you actually eat and buy at the store anyway. if you cook you can eat for a couple of euros per day .

eating more vegetarian, buying dry legumes, buying on sale and frozen veggies. at the moment here cauliflower, cabbage and pumpkins are cheap (depending on where they are on sale less than 2 bucks) and they last for a while.

you can make nice dishes with legumes, these veggies and idk eggs or tofu or chicken (or just vegetarian):

      dhal

      lentil or plit peas soup

      bean stew

      minestrone

      egg fried rice

      risotto

      ….

I’d use less money to eat and enjoy what the city has to offer if I were you. also plenty of free stuff to do and see too (go to the tourist bureau)
