I have had both but am finding myself wanting to go back to Amazon but am wondering if Walmart has better pricing than Amazon fresh? Anyone have experience using them and have any recommendations on how to use them best? I feel like I’m just draining my bank account on groceries and incidentals lately. What are your best strategies in general for grocery shopping?

Which do you prefer for grocery convenience and other purchases: Walmart + or Amazon Prime?

I used to do prime and Walmart plus. I found there was a tipping expectation for Walmart plus that was costing too much so I cancelled that and basically just do Walmart orders for curbside pickup.

Groceries I use aldis and go in store.

We don’t have Amazon fresh where I live. But there’s an Amazon warehouse so as long as I spend at least $35 shipping is free and usually only 2 days anyways.

To be frugal would be to find your local store savings catalogues and go in person and get what you need, ideally when it’s on sale. Do not support these massive conglomerates.

Many grocery stores also do their own grocery delivery, look into that. Rather than these 2 corps that want to run the world.

    3. I just cancelled my Walmart delivery. The lack of availability and scammy prices turned me off. It’s become more and more this way. Plus, why why does a person need to tip before they even recieve the service?

I live 400 steps from a Giant. I do most of my grocery shopping there.

I have never used grocery delivery or pickup services and likely never will. I prefer to have a degree of control and pick out my own food.

    5. I only have Prime (though it SHOULD be cheaper – god I remember when it was only like 40/year). I do use the television, music and other things besides shopping. I live in a weird area and it’s often impossible to find many things in the stores so Amazon fills that nicely.

Grocery pickups are free if you order above a threshold just about anywhere. If you have a car, grocery delivery subscriptions are a redundant expense that should be eliminated. It’s a bougie choice, like having both phone internet AND home internet service. Sorry, I got off track…

However, if you don’t have a car, grocery delivery is worth every penny.

ive never ordered groceries from Amazon. I have ordered from Walmart since I have the half price membership. I hate going to Walmart and I hate the fact that I am expected to tip for Walmart deliveries. I tipped once on a bunch of groceries from Walmart. Outside of that I think it is complete BS to have something delivered after having to get a membership and then having to tip. So I ordered very few items from Walmart.

    8. I know which places near me have the best prices for products I use frequently and generally make a couple stops for groceries. Amazon rarely makes the cut for groceries. I do Walmart pickups for a lot. You don’t need to pay for a membership to pick up for free, but you do need to hit a minimum order amount. They also make it pretty easy to “return” items using the app if you get bad produce, dented cans etc. Usually they just refund the $ and don’t make you return the product when it is food. I get quite a bit of produce at Sam’s Club … the prices are usually decent and the quality is more reliable.

    9. I use kroger for weekly groceries because its $40/year to have a person being paid an hourly wage by Kroger come by in a refrigerated truck instead of random delivery app contractor in their own car, no tips even as an option, and I havent seen them jerk around prices (I get all the same discounts etc as in store).

I think it’s worth it personally even if people don’t think its frugal, it’s less than a dollar a week.

I usually look up the circular (sales that week) and then go do my shopping. I don’t like to use pickup or delivery.

      Walmart+. I don’t do deliveries bc I have to tip 😂

It’s good for non grocery items without paying shipping. I waited a few days before triggering the sale to avoid impulse buying. Sometimes Walmart prices are better than Amazon.

My husband likes Paramount+. You get that for free. I get $50/yr membership

For groceries, I do my grocery store’s loss leaders and sale items, and then pickup at Walmart for the things not on sale. I save so much this way. My kids are home from school all week so groceries are always more expensive when that happens, and we of course have holiday meals that made things more expensive than normal. My digital cart was valued at $600, and I paid under $225. Another ~$60 or so at Walmart to top it off.

We don’t have Amazon Fresh here, so idk how that compares. But I’ve never thought they’d be a frugal option? Do they run sales like grocery stores do?

I tried Walmart+ for a year. Their shipping on stuff off the website was sloooow. Used to do Amazon Fresh before they stopped free delivery in early 2023 if you were a Prime member. Didn’t have Prime for all of 2024 and most of 2025. Looked at Amazon Fresh again and prices are much better than Walmart in my area (major metro in the Midwest). Went back to Prime/Fresh a few months ago and much happier. If I need something small like just milk, I do a Target pickup. I hare shopping plus bad knees make delivery of everything worth any price.
