For those of us who save leftover and premade foods in plastic freezer bags, what kind of marker do you use on the bag that freezes well and will not transfer? I was using a Sharpie but it often transfers ink to my fingers, freezer and countertop.
I keep looking online but mostly there are pens and not markers. I would prefer a marker that draws a thick line for legibility without reading glasses.

I just place mine on a paper towel until I take the item out of the bag.
You’re going to be paying more up front, but Secureline lab markers are your best bet. They can withstand -50°C lab freezers, so home freezers are a lot easier than that.
I use a Nobo liquid ink dry marker on my plastic containers and bags. It washes off with soapy water but doesn’t transfer to my hands if it dries first.
It’s quite a thick nib, but that works ok for me tbh. I keep it stored lid down to make sure it’s always ready to use.
Permanent marker on masking tape is my method. I curl one end of the tape to make a handle to make removal easier to reuse the freezer container or zip lock bag.
Use a china marker / grease pencil.
I use sharpie and let the ink dry for a few minutes before I put the item into the freezer. It’s never transferred to my hands or countertop after that.
I have never had an issue with sharpie if i let them dry completely. And it comes off easily with acetone so i can reuse the bag.
But if you want sonething different i have used standard crayons on masking tape, or grease prncils. Masking tape labels are a better option asthey are easy to remove.
I just use a sharpie. Never had issues with transfer.
I use a Sharpie on an empty plastic freezer bag and then let it sit for five minutes to both dry and get rid of the chemical smell before filling it. I’ve never had an issue with it transferring ink to anything.
I put a stip of painter’s tape on the bag and write on it with a grease pencil.
Sharpies work fine. It’s the surface that’s getting you. Plastic is by design, non-permeable. so it just sits on the surface where it can fade and get rubbed off.
The trick is what the pros do. Stickers or blue masking tape. (why blue? I have no idea) So long as the tape hold on, the label will be there. Restaurant supply places have paper stickers with a name and date space. But in short it’s not the sharpie it’s the freezer bag.
We use the roll of freezer labels at Amazon
r/SouperCubes sells a marker. I haven’t used it though also r/FreezerCubes r/FreezerMeals r/MealPrepSunday may have ideas for you
