This hack hasn't been a life changer but damn it's makes my mornings faster and more comfortable, especially when its cold in the winter or muggy in the summer. Costs maybe $1 per year in extra water / detergent usage .

Surely there are more frugal luxuries like this!? What else can you recommend.

My post body must contain at least three hundred characters not including spaces. Attempting to bypass this filter may result in…. wow, min post length is long!

What are your favorite frugal luxury hacks? I'll start – I use two bath towels for easier faster drying after shower. (It is AMAZING). What else y'all got?

    1. l’occitane verbena bar soap. It’s a luxury at 15$ a bar but it really does last an extremely long time. Lasts longer than multiple dove bars.

I see your bath towels and raise you bath sheets. I love that I can completely wrap up in it and it’s so cozy.

How in the world does 2 towels make drying significantly faster. It takes about 2 minutes now, what do you save? 10 seconds? 15?

    4. Epsom salt and warm water foot soak.  Make sure to set up towels before soaking toes!

Ten minutes in the sunshine in summer on my verandah in the morning, or a winter afternoon.

Lazy afternoon stroll on the weekend, and second hand book from the local op shop or library.

I want a garden swing for my next property, and they don’t have the be expensive (not currently a priority).

Herbal tea in a favorite mug before snoozing.

Bubble baths feel like a spa day

Also meditation makes me feel calm

And an electric throw on the couch feels cozy

And swimming in rivers on hot days

And sun drying clothes makes them smell great

How is that frugal, sir? now you have more washing. I’m afraid I must escort you out of this place.

    7. I bought nice looking pillowcases last year instead of wrapping paper. Few big ones, medium ones and they came in a little pouch that I use also. Put a nice ribon and decorations on it and I have a reusable and washable gift wrapping material. It cost a bit but everything is working out well.

I don’t know if this counts, but I like to make infused oils from flowers/herbs from my garden like lavender, rose petals, calendula, mint and others. They smell lovely and I like to use them on my skin after a hot bath during the cooler months. It is a nice self care ritual that I have come to love.

If everyone in my house used 2 bath towels at shower time then I would have just about an extra load of laundry per day.

My kids toss their towels in the basket after every shower.

I use my towel about 3 times before I wash it. I wash my husband’s towel the same time I wash mine. I generally plan my hair washing days around that and grab his towel to wrap my hair up in and then they both go in the machine.
That’s my frugal take on using 2 towels for my hair washing days.

    10. Bidet + cotton hand towels
      Bath sheets for shower
Foreo luna, just takes a tiny dab of foaming face cleanser. The Luna has lasted 5+ years and still going strong

I buy Lush bath bombs but run it under the tap so it only dissolves partway. This way I can get at least two soaks out of one bomb. It’s still strong enough to smell on my skin afterward.

Also: heated blankets during cold months. Oh my lord does it feel wonderful to curl up in one. Best part is you can lower your thermostat and still keep warm.

    12. Buying cashmere at thrift stores. I look for ones that are in good shape (no thread pulls, no shrinkage, etc), and generally at least 90% cashmere. They’re generally less than $10 each. I get to feel cozy and warm for the winter, while spending a fraction of the cost.

    13. I’m learning about Dollar Tree beauty. Holiday decorations and travel are my luxuries. I constantly look and only try to buy things that will probably last for decorations. For travel, my state parks pass helps. Even camping one night can get my travel itch satiated. Then for many, I look at mid-week trips. I plan 1-2 trips where both my kids can go out of state.

I like to take a warm bath on occasion especially in the winter but the water cools way too fast to tolerate it especially in colder months – so I bring in the portable infrared heater we have and sit it by the door pointed towards the tub, it keeps the tub itself warm enough to keep the water warm and comfortable.
