Dollar is on a managed retreat from being the global currency, as is the American empire itself. The aggression regarding Venezuela is just posturing

None can predict the future at least the economist.

US dollar is overvalued as it is global currency, with time as people dislike US ever more, dollar could depreciate => other economies would be bigger in relation to us economy, imports would more expensive but export more competitive.

Also a bulk of american money comes from pax americana: europe (every single country basically that does it)buying american gear in exchange for american soldiers; awarding tenders to us companies; selling boeing planes as part of trade negotations, welcoming american firms in you country and taxing them not so much so america can grow ever more. Much of US sales comes from its soft power and global police man status. As it is changed these might also change.

My take is that countries will look to develope theit own technological / military / financial capabilites to be more independent. How will they succeed? No idea.

America is now also bulling pretty everyone to buy american what might drive in longterm countries to be more independent

US prosperity should more or less be unshaken as US economy is focuses around domestic consumption and not trade. though performance of global american firm can be affected and ridiculous high stock evaluations and CEO paychecks can be affected. Normal Smith of what I know anyway is not participating in economic achievements of us…

    3. We’ve fought endless wars for others.

      For Europe in WW2.
Against Communists in The Korean War.
      Against Communists in Vietnam.
      Against dictators during Desert Stoem.
Against terrorists around the globe during Operation Iraqi Freedom and in Afghanistan.

We cannot guarantee this because we simply have no more blood to give. I’m a third generation descendant. Grandfather fought in Korea. I fought in Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Say what you will of opinions regarding the above wars. We are tired and worn. Many of our troops die homeless or struggle for years to obtain benefits. Our own system doesn’t work for us. Our own people struggle with basic needs and rising costs that should have never changed over time.

It’s not that we hate you. We’re simply burned out and done.

A lot of this rhetoric is just that, rhetoric. Actions will determine the outcome moreso than words.

Im watching the European defense space closely when it comes to this. Is the EU trying to develop more in terms of internal military infrastructure? Are they outsourcing that development, and if so, to whom?

If the EU is legitimately trying to develop their own defense sector to take the reigns from the U.S.’ protection(s) of the last 75 years, then expect a much greater chance that the dollar substantially weakens over time.
