I’m booking a cruise for next year. The cruise is 6k. With the sign up bonus and the 2x points on the rc credit card I’d get 47000 points. Which at 50k points I would get a $500 discount on a cruise. Is the card worth it or should I get another card to hit the sign up bonus?

I have the Amex gold, chase sapphire preferred, Hilton honors and Hilton surpass.

I’ve been looking at airline cards, capital one venture x, Hyatt credit card and the IHG.

I am not looking at the Amex platinum or the chase sapphire reserve because they are too expensive annual fee wise.

My next credit card I’ll hit chases 5/24 rule.

    1. I have looked at all the cruise line credit cards and none of them are worth burning a hard pull. All you need to do is sign up for their loyalty programs like RC’s Crown & Anchor Society. The credit card does nothing to help with that.

Your first priority should be cards with flexible points. If you like to cruise, you should also include 5% cards on categories you use. Citi Custom Cash and US Bank Cash+ are two good examples.

    2. Any number of cards can give you a better return on 6K spend.

6K spend on a Venture gives you a total of 87K points which is worth at least $870.
