It finally happened. Zero balance on my Aidvantage account. What a relief, but I am still waiting for my refund.
I received my letter for forgiveness / refund in January 2025. Aidvantage wanted me to keep making payments, so I sent them a copy of my letter and requested a forbearance. I received a one year forbearance. After 6 months, I did not hear anything back regarding my loan. I was getting impatient, so I sent a copy of my letter to the credit agencies requesting them to remove or update my account.
At first, that backed fired. Aidvantage sent me a letter saying that after reviewing my account, they were canceling my forbearance, and I would have to start making payments the following month. I kept checking my account, and then it happened. The 100k plus loan balance was now zero.
It's been two months and I am still waiting for a refund. If I don't get the refund, getting rid of the loan was good enough.

How to get letter for forgiveness?
You can get forgiveness if you have a civil service type job. I do not have all the details, but it is available from your loan provider or search online.
