Just made my 300th IBR payment according to the backdoor tracker. My next scheduled payment is January 15. My recollection was that the last batch of golden emails went out around November 22 or so and I thought that the golden emails go out every two months and if so, the next batch will go out January 22 or so. Deciding whether to make the January 15 payment or request a forbearance.

Was anyone on the last batch of golden emails on an IBR forbearance when they received it?

Has anyone that reached over 300 payments on the IBR plan receive a refund?

Thoughts on how to proceed much appreciated.

    1. You would receive a refund for any overpayments. You can be in forbearance on IBR and still get forgiveness as long as you have 300 qualifying payments.

    2. I believe the Golden Emails are going out every month as opposed to every other month like it was during the Biden administration. There weren’t any sent out at the end of October because the govt. was shut down. I could be wrong about this, but don’t be surprised if you get a Golden Email later this week or next week?
