Hello to all. A few months ago, my neighbor backed his truck into my sedan, caving in the hood and grill. My car was parked and in its assigned parking spot. He provided his details and I filed a claim with my insurance. I paid my deductible and my car was repaired within two weeks. However, now the other driver’s insurance is “not responding to requests for payment” and my claim is being sent to “arbitration review”.

I’ve sort of accepted I won’t ever see my deductible again. But am I now responsible for paying the shop? And also – will my insurance rate go up because of something that was not my fault by any means?

I appreciate your time. Thank you!

Other party is not responding to payment request.

    1. You are responsible for paying your deductible amount to the shop. And whether your premium can rise depends on the regulations of your state. Some states do not allow not at fault claims to factor into premium changes, other states do. But even in those states that do, not at fault claims tend to have a much smaller impact than at faultt claims.
