In a theoretical, 2 older cars are insured for liability. They get keyed 2-3 times over the course of 4 months on the same panel and never reported or found the culprit likely due to a parking dispute. For some reason, they always key the same panels. The cars are both swapped to comprehensive on another insurer. Is the owner of the 2 cars required to tell the new insurance about the ongoing keying problem? The owner assumes that the cars will be keyed again, and will likely file a claim then. If a claim is filed will a lot of value be deducted due to the prior key marks? Is the owner required to fix it with the claim money? What happens if they do not fix it, and it gets keyed again? The owner is not attempting to commit fraud and will not lie to insurance. They assume if they get the panels repainted, they will just be keyed again. Due to the living situation, it is hard to get surveillance on the vehicles. Parking dashcams have not been able to catch the culprit and drain the batteries as these cars are driven maybe 2-4 times a month.

    Insurance and keyed car.
