The renowned crypto prediction market Polymarket is now accepting bets on the outcome of the conflict in Ukraine. This is not a harmless assessment of the chances of achieving peace through the current negotiations. 'Armchair experts' in their cosy offices are rolling millions of dollars, betting on the capture of specific cities, villages and territories, and on the movement of the front line by kilometres — for which people are dying.

The situation has reached absurd levels, with an ISW employee deliberately distorting the front line map in order to pay out on bets. OSTIN analysts and prediction markets have finally blurred the line between analytics and blood fraud.

The question inevitably arises: where is the limit of 'market freedom'? Yes, prediction markets use smart contracts and blockchain technology, but the platform only received a CFTC licence in November 2025.

Turning deaths into a liquid asset is not technological progress, but an ethical disaster. The cryptocurrency market has seen it all, and the anonymity of blockchain technology makes it resemble the 'Wild West'. However, in this case, we are talking about a licensed crypto business.
