Anyone have Multi-Family experience in DFW?

Hello, I am looking to house hack in the next year or two and have been looking at the market to see where multifamily houses are located in Dallas-Fort Worth and they seem to be places that are lower income/higher crime. I was curious to see other people’s experience with owning units in the area and where the units are located? My family thinks I’m crazy for looking at houses in south Fort Worth, Arlington, and Irving.
