    1. The shut down will be for all of 2026.

      The good news is that Beam “did not announce layoffs and will continue bottling and warehousing operations at the James B. Beam campus, with its visitor center and restaurant remaining open.”

      They only have 6000 employees.

    2. This may become more common as Gen Z continues to drink less than previous generations. I’m sure the availability of (much cheaper) Marijuana is also playing a role

    3. I thought they were shutting down to do repairs/ add ons for other ventures? The rest of Reddit wants to blame Trump for tariffs and the economy but it seems people are starting to view alcohol different than other generations.

    5. I’ve been saying this for a long time that there will be a huge whisky glut. It’s a product with a super long lead time, and the last few years was an unprecedented boom.

      The last few years, everybody flooded into the industry, building new distilleries, expanding production. This was never sustainable.
