I received the email below from Mesa that they are not responsible for the Mesa points used for reward bookings that were cancelled by Mesa Closure. Seems like they those points will never return to my account even though Mesa Cancelled the bookings. What are my options?
Our records indicate that you transferred Mesa rewards points to Ascenda in connection with a travel booking. Ascenda accepted the points transfer and processed the booking. However, the travel reservation was subsequently cancelled by the travel provider.
What This Means
Ascenda is a third-party travel provider that is not affiliated with Mesa. The travel providers offering flights, hotels, or other travel services are also separate third parties.
Once points are transferred to an unaffiliated third-party travel provider, Mesa does not control the booking, cancellation, refund, or recredit process. Because the reservation was cancelled after the points transfer was completed, Mesa is unable to directly reissue or recredit those points.
What You Should Do Now
To resolve this matter, we recommend that you:
- Contact the provider or carrier directly to confirm the current status of the booking.
- Contact Ascenda to confirm the status of the transfer and the cancelled reservation.
- If directed by Ascenda, contact the travel provider to request confirmation of the cancellation and any applicable refund, recredit, or rebooking options.
- Retain any confirmation numbers, emails, or other documentation related to your booking and cancellation.
Mesa is providing this notice to ensure you are aware of the situation and can follow up directly with the third parties involved in the booking and cancellation. Sorry, this sounds like a big mess.
Was this a booking through mesa’s travel portal in their app? (Not a traditional transfer of points to an airline program like Air Canada aeroplan).
Interesting if this is a booking in their travel portal and they are saying you ‘transferred points’.
