I graduated with my Masters in December 2024. During that time my loans were in deferment. When it was time for me to start paying them back, the SAVE plan was no longer an option for those of us working towards PSLF. I applied for a new IDR (which is what reps from Mohela told me to do) clear back in June 2025. I still havent received an answer on whether or not I have been approved. I keep getting bills stating my minimum payment is $641.00 a month. Each time I call, I’m told my application hasn’t processed and any payment I make now does not count towards PSLF. Then they offer forbearance.
I don’t know what to do. I don’t want to keep putting my loans in forbearance but I refuse to make payments that don’t count towards PSLF. Honestly though, at this point, I don’t even know if PSLF is even really an option anymore. It’s all so confusing. I’ve thought about taking out a personal loan to pay it off. I feel like dealing with the bank would be easier.
Anyone have any advice or knowledge of what’s going on with IDR plans and/or PSLF? I have no other debt besides student loans. It is driving me crazy knowing I have this huge outstanding debt with a shady servicer with no end in sight.
IDR plans are not processing

PSLF is still happening.
You can try submitting a new application but the backlog of IDR applications is large. As long as you apply on studentaid.gov and provide access to your tax data then you’ve done what you can do for now.
Did you do the IRS linking and choose a plan (not the lowest payment option)?
