Saw a post that stopped me mid scroll. Kid, 22, started working at 13 because his family had nothing. By 18 making more than most 40 year olds. By 22 owns two houses, car, investments, rebuilt his dad's business.
But he wasn't flexing. He was asking strangers if he's broken. If he missed something. If money can replace the life he skipped.
I was him two decades ago. Here's what nobody told me.
The void is coming.
Not failure. Not burnout. Worse. You've been in survival mode so long that fighting is your whole identity. Then one day you win. The pressure lifts. And you feel nothing. You look at everything you built and there's just silence. Because you don't know who you are without a war to fight.
The betrayals come too. Right now everyone celebrates him. But money doesn't change people, it reveals them. Some of them are just waiting. And it cuts different when you actually believed in them.
His business will own him. He thinks he's free but the day he stops the money stops. That's not an asset. That's a trap with good lighting.
The place he's building in is taking from him silently. I spent 15 years there. Built, lost people, watched the city slowly poison everyone while nobody cared. I got out.
And time doesn't negotiate. One day he'll meet someone who wasted their twenties doing nothing special. And he'll feel grief for a version of himself that never got to exist.
So what's the unless?
Get out. Not forever but long enough to see bigger. The soil you survived in is not where you'll grow.
Find people who see you not need you.
Build something that runs without you breathing into it.
And figure out who you are when nothing's on fire. That's the real work.
If you're in a similar place, ask yourself this.
Who are you when you're not surviving?
You've become a millionaire at 22, but the coming void is unavoidable, unless…

Entrepreneurs, as a general rule, are social misfits and outliers.
So what’s the point?
Felt like I could have wrote that. Im 42 and every word resonated.
