I have an outstanding medical debt of $250.

A couple weeks ago, I checked my credit card, which I keep at a $0 balance, and there was a $250 pending charge from the provider. I am pretty sure I have never given this institution this card, I searched through my statements and only found 1 medical charge ever for a copay at a different provider's office, and definitely did not authorize this transaction.

After a few days, the pending transaction disappears. Okay, fine, still weird they had my credit card number but whatever, I guess.

Then a couple days later, a $250 credit from that institution appears, putting my account balance at negative $250. I certainly thought it was peculiar at the time, but assumed it was just a visual glitch of some sort, a miscalculation related to deleting the previously pending charge, no big deal.

It has now been over a week, Tuesday to Tuesday anyhow, and the credit is still there. Can anyone explain what this is? I laughingly thought maybe they realized they didn't have authorization to use that card and tried to pay me to not report a crime or something, but that doesn't seem correct.

I have a peculiar credit on my credit card from someone I owe money to. It has persisted for over a week. I don't know what is happening.

    1. Did you report this to the CC company. You need to have them close the account and reopen with a new number. They will eventually take back the $250.

What are your plans for your medical debit. It can end up in collections.

    2. We aren’t going to be able to help you with this. You need to call the provider and the credit card company.

    3. You said “credit” but also that the balance is now negative $250. Those two statements contradict each other.
