I’m very interested in starting a position in ASTS. I used to work at SpaceX a few years ago and was blown away at the capabilities and potential for low earth orbital satellite connectivity. I believe ASTS has a very compelling approach to being a competitor, but recent sales have me worried. In addition to this whale of a dump, Shanti Gupta, their COO, just sold $700,000 worth of Class A.

TLDR, I like the stock, but worry about insiders taking profits. Thoughts?

You can find this about any stock lmao. This is what shakes out weak hands. Plus this is old news that you dug up. People that have stock options sell those all the time to get paid. It’s not insider trading, it’s more like they need money. 700k is nothing, may be she bought a house lol. I definitely don’t recommend you buy this stock if you got weak hands.

    2. He is the only one selling and has been for a while. From what I remember seeing is it’s all planned ahead of time and getting ready for retirement? It has nothing to do with insider knowledge

    3. This was disclosed earlier this month. I remember reading about it on the AST sub.

It’s their loss as they sold below $70 just months before the start of initial service

    4. Oh wow great find, i can’t believe this is dated December 9th and no one posted about it until you somehow managed to find it half a month later??? How did you find it, did you leverage AI?

A quick look tells me, There are several tranches of convertible notes at different price levels. This means future dilution. They have more than 2 bil cash at hand but as they are still in the growth phase, they may require further debt. I think that’s why that investor got out, mostly they did not see the risk-reward from now. Insiders like COO usually sell for taxes or diversification. If you can sit on the stock for some years, I think it has a huge potential.

    6. Sell the news lol. Besides I have been worried about them diluting share. They seem to be doing that.

ASTS is not a competitor to Starlink D2C, rather Starlink D2C is a competitor to ASTS, and by competitor I mean a rounding error competitor, they’re irrelevant!

Starlink D2C need their v3 sats which will take a couple of years to build and deploy, so until then, they’re irrelevant.

ASTS has the superior tech and those bluebird sats will be deployed throughout 2026 whilst Starlink engineers are still figuring things out with their v3 sats…

Isn’t this typical? Execs over leverage their financials during a startup, and then once it hits big they pull out their life changing money and let the rest ride.
