This guy backed up into me in a parking lot and slightly cracked my bumper. I started the process to file a claim but tbh I drive a beater and don’t really care to get it fixed, I was lowkey just gonna take the insurance payout maybe to help with some other bills cause I’m poor. But I feel kind of guilty now and like it’s not really worth it, the car is still drivable and everything else works fine. Should I just drop the claim? Or is it too late?
Got into a little fender bender (not at fault), should I drop the claim?

You can pocket the money, if they accept liability, which I don’t see why not.
A claim filed is a claim filed already though.
ETA: if it’s a beater like you say they may total it out. You can owner retain.
Your report caused his rates to go up, you might as well accept repair money
If you initiated the claim, the ball is rolling. Too late to turn back now. I hope you get a little cash for Christmas.
