Wanting to shop insurance, but who I am currently with (Farm Bureau) was recommended by someone in my family that claimed any roof replacements, car issues, etc. were all done with no hassle.
What do you look for when deciding on an insurance company? I reached out to a local company that insures with Auto Owners as I saw good feedback on them, but they sent me a Travelers policy instead and I am a little weary to continue with Travelers even though it will save me $200/month
How to vet insurance company for house and cars?

standard carriers are more or less all the same
just go with the best price
I have used an independent agent for over 40 years. He represents several companies, and we go over our coverages, concerns and the risks we face. He comes back with policies for us. On renewals, if something seems out of line (such as a spike in premiums, or a company announcing they are getting out of the business in our state), he does the work of finding a new policy.
I suggest looking for an independent agent to do the work for you
