Hey everyone,

A few months ago I had some financial issues and my Discover account was suspended, so I can’t use it anymore. I originally owed about $3,200, but I’ve paid it down and it’s now at $260 as of today but still suspended.

Because of that, my credit took a hit and my FICO dropped to around 650. I’m currently not getting approved for much. Capital One is offering me the Quicksilver Secured card, and I’m wondering if that’s a good move or if there’s something better I should do instead.

My main goal is to rebuild my credit the right way and improve my approval chances in the future. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

    1. The suspension of the account by itself wouldn’t affect your FICO scores. And even if they closed it, that wouldn’t affect your FICO scores in any meaningful way unless it was your only open card.

Did you miss any payments past 30 days? If not, this is only a utilization issue and your score will rebound as soon as you pay the debt off. !utilization.
