Christmas Day 2025 will be remembered as the warmest Christmas on record across much of western Nebraska, eastern Wyoming and northeastern Colorado, according to the National Weather Service.
At 8 p.m. Thursday, the National Weather Service confirmed that all seven long-term climate stations in the region recorded their warmest Christmas Day ever. Record high temperatures were set for a fourth consecutive day, continuing an extended stretch of unseasonably warm weather.
Sidney reached 68 degrees, breaking the previous record of 66 set in 1971. Scottsbluff also climbed to 68, surpassing its old record of 66 from 1971. Alliance reached 69 degrees, topping the previous record of 62, while Chadron hit 68, breaking the 62-degree mark set in 2005.
In Wyoming, Cheyenne recorded a high of 64 degrees, exceeding the previous Christmas Day record of 60 set in 2005. Laramie reached 56 degrees, breaking the old record of 52, while Rawlins climbed to 53, surpassing its prior mark of 48.
