A small DIY for anyone who doesn't want to pay for silica packets, fridge deodorizers, or really anywhere where humidity can cause things to stale, smell, clump, etc. these can help you safe a few pennies.

    you'll need:
    1. empty tea bags
    2. either rice or baking powder depending on your need(s)
    optional: funnel

some examples of where to put these/use cases:

    • fridge / freezer
    • spice containers
    • document storage (ex. a sealed box or safe)
    • shoes
    • gym bag
    • pet food storage container/bag
    • coffee can
    • garment bags and/or stored clothing
    • linen storage (ex. chest or tote)

    1. Silica gel is very inexpensive and *much* more absorbent than rice.

Rice is so bad at this task that the old ‘putting your phone in rice’ trick is nonsense. It only seems to work because it forces people to keep their phone off until it dries normally.
