Not everyone has the capacity to be their own bank. I wonder why he couldn’t be bothered to keep his password safe. I mean even in 2017 3000 bucks is 3000 bucks.

      What wallet was this?

When you say “password”, did you mean “seed phrase”, or “passphrase” (aka 13th/25th word)? or literally just a password?

Does he still have his seed phrase? or was this some kind of online account he logged into rather than an actual wallet?

    3. Just write the seed phrases down somewhere on a piece of paper. People trying to be all super discreet and secret about it are the morons who lose it the most. Most people have less than a 12th of a bitcoin. And they act like people are beating the door down to take it from them lol

    4. Technically it’s only $3.5k but hey, I lost a wallet with about 3 btc in it back around 2011 and that was around $150 or so?

I can do one better, i forced my friend to buy a btc and move it to blockchain.info wallet and told him to write down the seed on a papar, he bought around the 500 mark. Fastforward btc hits 120k i tell him to sell it and he has lost the paper, he doesnt remember password or the identifer login. We were able to recover the identifier but he doesnt have clue about the password.

    7. Well you’re in luck.

There is no such thing as a password in bitcoin.

All you need is a seed or a seed and passphrase. Or a wallet and pin and 2FA.

“password to the wallet”? If he has his seed phrase, he is good. You know, those 12 or 24 words that represent his private keys…

I let my cousin buy 3 when it was 6K. He lost the password as he gave his phone away to charity..
