This literally happens thousands of times a day. Obviously it’s stupid and shady, but a decent clip of people just have no real understanding of how insurance works.
I’ve legitimately denied claims like these many times where people are SHOCKED that we won’t cover it. “But it was only lapsed for a day/week/month/because autodraft failed/etc.”

There is a reason why insurance policies generally don’t go into effect until 12:01 AM the following day.
It’s always hilarious seeing people think they can commit insurance fraud and not get caught. They have zero clue how closely things are monitored.
