In 2020, the IRS ran a time-limited challenge to build tools for tracing Monero (XMR), offering up to $1.25M in contracts to track its privacy features. Chainalysis and Integra FEC were awarded the contracts, with each eligible for up to $625k:

Despite this, it’s still routinely misrepresented as an active “Monero bounty.” Lately it’s even being rebranded as an FBI or CIA bounty to give it more oomph. In reality, the program ended years ago, Chainalysis’ general approach is now public, and there is no ongoing reward.
Meanwhile, some Monero developers have hopped onto the Monero-tracking gravy train over at NAXO.
