Not in my opinion. Who do you know that would trust you to help them buy or sell a property when you’re 18 or 19 years old?

I’d focus on some type of education and career. The best agents I know started real estate as a second career after making many contacts.

I know lawyers and doctors that used their contacts to make a great second career. How about a soccer mom/dad that was on the PTA and a non profit board…all those contacts.

Being a real estate agent is a cut-throat business. A few very connected agents (usually people who have been teachers in that town and know tens of thousands of local people) become the top agents who tie up 90% of the sales, and the 90% of less successful real estate agents fight over the remaining 10% of the market and don’t make more than $25K a year. Also, being a real estate agent usually doesn’t come with health insurance. Additionally, due to the internet, a lot more people are doing their own real estate selling and buying. I’m not sure that there’s much future in being a real estate agent. Is there anything else you can do with your life? Have you thought about going into health care or a trade? (if you don’t know what trades are, say something.)
