February 1 AU no longer get free access to cap one lounges. You ahve to pay $125 for AU if you want access.
My son was able to get the X before going AD, so he gets his annual fee waived. He said his friends are able to get the amex platinum AU fees waived.
Do you think the $125 for Venture X will be reimbursed? My son called to ask and rep said she didn't think that would be waived. However she didn't seem sure. She also didn't know if he would be able to cancel the AU and get a prorated amount back if he tried and didn't get reimbursed.

This isn’t an authorized user fee. This is a lounge access fee.
If he doesn’t want to pay the fee, he doesn’t have to pay it. Authorized user fees are still waived, just not the additional lounge access fee. I highly doubt MLA will cover this additional lounge access fee, but I could be wrong. Wouldn’t hurt trying it the first year.
It’s $125. If it’s worth it for lounge access, pay it. If not, don’t. Enjoy all the other benefits you get.
If you want annual fee waived cards, join active duty.
