First time homebuyer. I’ve found a home that I think I’m in love with that is FSBO. I have no agent as of yet but wanted to gauge an expectation of what percentage they would ask. How common is it that sellers would pay my the commission for my realtor? Thank you folks🙂

Expected commission from buyer on FSBO?

It all depends on how badly the seller needs to sell. It’s likely you are the only one interested, since most people don’t consider FSBO. Regardless, you need a buyers agent to make sure the seller isn’t purposely or inadvertently trying to pull a fast one over on you.

A lot of FSBOs can be unreasonable, paying an agent is quite often a sticking point. Typically, a FSBO will not want to cover the cost and want you to raise the price, or not want an agent involved out of some principle they have. All that said, it depends. They are already saving on not paying an agent so maybe they’ll be one of the reasonable ones.

It depends. But if you don’t already have an agent, which it sounds like you don’t, you don’t need one. Just get a real estate attorney to handle the contracts.
