I’m looking for advice to get a 4K 144Hz TV specifically for gaming. HDMI 2.1 is a must.
I have a strict budget of around €550. So far, budget models like the TCL P755 and Hisense E7Q PRO are what I keep running across as the only new options.
    My question is regarding value:
Does anyone have long-term experience with these budget brands? Are they a solid frugal choice, or is it better strategy to look for a used flagship model from a major brand to avoid buying cheap junk?
Any recommendations on the best route to take?

How would I get a decent 4K 144Hz TV for cheap?

For expensive appliances, i would not buy cheap.

Buy something nice or buy it twice.

My family has a 20 year old Sony Plasma 1080p TV that has survived every TV that has come after it. It was purchased for over $1k.

I used to spend around $300-400 on multiple Samsung TVs that all crapped out while that old Sony still lives.

I recently bought myself a Sony OLED that I hope for keep for at least 5, hopefully 10 years.

    2. i have been buying the cheaper, but not supper cheap, TV’s for many years. they all have been working just fine. i don’t like paying for a name.

Also worth checking local marketplaces, folks often sell barely‑used TVs for way under retail just because they upgraded. If you can pick it up same day, you might score a great set.

    4. I mean, first, buy whatever you do get when it’s on deep sale or clearance. In the US, this is typically Black Friday or around the Super Bowl timeframe. I check deal sites for the best deals.

Second – check the reviews for whatever model you want on rtings.com – be sure to note what metric was used for that review. That site will give you a solid idea on how well it does.

I guess that depends on what you care about. I have a TCL Roku and it’s “fine”. It’s old enough that the Roku interface has gotten annoyingly slow, but it’s still good enough for what I’m willing to spend money on. If audio/image quality are important then you probably won’t be happy with a budget brand.

I was at a Best Buy Saturday and they had an open box 98″ LG something for $1200. Seemed like a pretty good price since everything else that size was closer to $4000.

    6. The cheapest I found in the USA was the TCL QMK6 or similar model number, 144hz and 2.1 but only 2 of the HDMI ports have those specs. The TV was $399 at most retailers but at the retailer I bought it from since Black Friday it has gone up to $528, so you are paying more for the same thing now because its not BF.

If you have a PS5 you need HDMI 2.1 and the higher refresh rate which seems to be the pain point at least of my purchase otherwise I could have gone with any other 60hz Tv like the TCL $169 Target special. I won my PS5 in a contest so I shouldn’t be complaining here though that I have to pay more for a TV because I need certain specs to run my console correctly.

Actually all the stuff I bought on BF has gone up in price.

    7. I guess my first question on 144hz is why?

I have a Samsung Odyssey G9 with 240 hz. While I absolutely love the monitor for gaming , the difference between 60fps and 120 is low and the difference between 120 and 240 is irrelevant .

Get a TCL bullshit and buy a decent Roku set( or better) if the UI is getting slow
