I want to share my experience because it may help someone else. I am currently rebuilding my credit after going through a lot during the COVID pandemic. I currently have high apartment debt in collections on my credit reports from helping a family member. I have paid off and settled other collections recently. I've never had any cards with chase but have banked with them for about three years now.

I applied for the chase freedom rise card Thursday of last week. They pulled Transunion and it was declined. I called and asked to be transferred to the reconsideration line. I spoke to someone and he mentioned the apartment collection as well as another account that was showing as still open with balance but I definitely paid that account off and closed it on my own. I explained everything and he placed me in pending.

I called them yesterday to get a final decision and was told that it declined because of my poor credit history. The lady did say "if you pay off one of the collections or settle just call us back within 30 days for another reconsideration". Yesterday I realized I had fraud alerts on my credit reports and removed them.

Today I received a call from chase asking to verify if I applied for the card. I verified & she said okay let me process your application. (No inquiry) approved for $500. It's not much but I will make sure I continue to build and reach an 800 score. I want to show my child that good credit is important.
