Hey everyone!

I hope this kind of post is allowed. Not here to advertise.

I’m exploring the idea of building a mobile app specifically for the financial independence (FI/FIRE) community.

I’m also looking for a partner to help fill a product-focused role. This person would help define how features should work to best serve FI users, collect and synthesize user feedback, and help validate product/market fit. Familiarity with existing finance apps and an interest in FI are more important than formal credentials (self-taught finance knowledge is totally fine).

To be clear, I would handle all of the engineering.

Below are some rough, early feature ideas. I'm very much open to change or feedback:

    Net Worth Tracking

    • Assets & liabilities with net worth over time
    • Monthly “on/off track” FI indicators with explanations
    • Optional third-party integrations
    • Manual-first / offline mode

    Cash Flow & Spending

    • Monthly income vs. expenses
    • Category breakdowns and rolling averages (3/6/12 mo)
    • Savings rate calculation
    • Optional integrations
    • Sankey-style flow visualization (example)
    • Support for post-retirement income (pensions, rentals, BaristaFIRE, etc.)

    FI Number & Progress

    • FI number based on user-defined expenses and withdrawal rate
    • Progress tracking and estimated years to FI

    Scenario Modeling (“What if?”)

    • Historical market stress testing
    • Expense, savings, and return-rate changes
    • Early retirement timing scenarios
    • Side-by-side comparisons

    Investment & Withdrawal Planning

    • Asset allocation and glide paths
    • Roth ladder tracking
    • Sequence-of-returns simulations
    • Withdrawal order modeling and guardrail strategies (e.g. Guyton-Klinger)

If any of this resonates (or if you think I’m missing the mark) I’d love to hear your thoughts.

    Thanks!
