    President Trump and his advisers are planning a sweeping initiative to dominate the Venezuelan oil industry for years to come, and the president has told aides he believes his efforts could help lower oil prices to his favored level of $50 a barrel, according to people familiar with the matter.

    A plan under consideration envisions the U.S. exerting some control over Venezuela’s state-run oil company Petróleos de Venezuela SA, or PdVSA, including acquiring and marketing the bulk of the company’s oil production, people familiar with the matter said.

      They couldn’t even plan for the release of the Epstein files or taking over Portland or solving inflation on day one.

    2. I wonder if this explains the kidnapping. There was already an economic partnership discussed and Maduro refused it but Rodriguez indicated she’d accept? 

      Was that why she was in Russia when all this went down? So Maduro couldn’t cry “traitor!!” and execute her during the attack?

      Just guessing. Considering if this wasn’t just an American assisted palace coup. No confidence here though – still scratching my head. 

      edit: If this is the case then all Trump’s bluster about controlling Venezuela – practically impossible – is just laying down cover fire for Rodriguez assuming power.
