Hello. OK, so basically I have to deal with this because of the language barrier. I’ve done my research on what to do, but I’m not sure the steps I have to follow in this specific case. So the collection agency bought my dad‘s debt and right now it’s 4.4K. Should I go through the process of asking for a letter of validation or should I try to settle and get this over with quick? My dad already received a letter from the bank that they sold the debt and another letter from the collection agency stating the amount and other fees. Know I must get everything in writing, but honestly I’m lost on what to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
HELP! Foreign dad forgot about a credit card and it got sent to collections. Now I have to deal with it.

Always ask for validation first – don’t give them anything until they prove they actually own the debt and have all the paperwork right. Collections companies mess up documentation all the time and you might catch them slipping
Unless your name is on the debt it is not your debt.
What do you mean foreign dad. If he’s no longer in the country tell him to just forget about it. His credit score doesn’t get moved to other countries
