    1. Its almost like he wants people to feel richer while getting deeper in debt/less likely to have enough for retirement. Also – this is a benefit for homeowners (who we already subsidize). Perhaps we should help renters too.

      There has to be better ways to help people keep their homes. Perhaps things like:

      * Longer and more generous unemployment insurance
      * Housing assistance programs or loans
      * Incentivize banks to temporarily suspend or reduce payments, and then modify loans to spread missed payments over time instead of foreclosing.
      * Eviction process safeguards
      * Renter protection
      * …

    2. Is real estate or the SP500 more overvalued?

      I advocate a small rental near a big park, with diversified investments and lots of hope

      Maybe try allowing retirement accounts to pay off student loans without penalty or tax.

      Even if this happens, doesn’t this actually inflate the housing market as more money is now chasing the same number of homes?

      Executive orders are not laws. Not how this works and he also doesn’t control the IRS.

    6. Good, IRAs allow you to do this but younger people usually have one or the other, expand the option to 401ks. Homeownership is part of a valid retirement plan.

    7. Let’s be honest here. Most people won‘t need a retirement if they can‘t afford healthcare to even get that old.

    8. What if…. We built more starter houses
      Increasing just demand will just make houses even more out of reach for people. Gotta fix the supply side but that will take an act of Congress not some half baked executive order.
