Wait, you are telling me a nation that is currently in massive uproar and destabilized by US actions, is in fact not a great place to invest a multi-year or even decade long upgrade process for the oil industry?
No way….. everyone knows that oil industries, such as extractions and refineries are as easy to set up as lemonade stands….
Seriously though, if we wanted to upgrade the nation, having sane economic talks like Norwegian oil fund would have been better.

Watch what the oil companies do, not what they say. This narrative is trying to distract that they’ll probably invest through third parties to make it happen.

Exxon mobile had 100billion to invest, you choose for stock holders:
1) they could buy controlling interest in chevron and get a functioning oils/energy company, with clean books.
2) or in four or six years get a 50/50 split of oil from Venezuela were the reserves have been lied about, and the country is teetering on disaster with only the top person of a corrupt administration removed.
You as the CEO of Exxon Mobil decide which risk sounds better?

I highly recommend reading the article before talking in the comments. What is actually being said is a lot more nuanced than what is being shown just in the headline.

I love how he was telling the oil execs about the oil in Venezuela, trying to sell them on it. AS IF they don’t know all about the oil in Venezuela! That is their job SIR and they are paid a lot of money to do it.
Maybe he should have considered that before he broke the law. Maybe he should stay in his own lane.

I am shocked. Shocked I tell you! That a businessman who bankrupted multiple casinos is an absolute moron who makes poor business decisions based on greed and emotion.
Why would anyone invest in a nation which Trump had his grubby hands on? They can clearly see him running America straight off the cliff and they’re trying to keep their companies from following him into a boondoggle the next president will certainly cancel.

Lmao another failure from the guy who bankrupted casinos. Of course the oil industry isn’t going to risk everything when oil demand is set to decline over the next 25 years.

Not to rain on y’all’s orange man bad parade but from what I saw literally every other oil company at the meeting seemed super excited about it. Exxon was the only one who was negative about it.

The oil companies aren’t stupid. They know Trump will throw money at this proposition; the oil companies are just waiting for the cost to come down with the aid of the inevitable subsidies and tax breaks.

Exxon says it won’t invest in Venezuela oil until American boys and girls are sent to die to make it safe while it steals the country’s oil. Trump seems to be happy with that scenario. Let’s make that an issue in the upcoming congressional midterm elections and see just what the boys and girls, their parents and grand parents think.

So Trump went in there WITHOUT the approval or knowledge of the oil barons. Now they say they don’t want to go in so Trump did this all and wasted money for nothing? I am actually eating popcorn as well speak. What a complete clown show lol
