I have nobody to talk this through with so here we go.

My husband and I are incredibly grateful to even be in a position to do this, but paying off his loans still feels scary. Over the past few years, we paid off his car ($6k in 2021), bought our home with 5% down ($490k), about $30k into renovations, paid off our newer car lease ($24k), and now we’re preparing to pay off the remaining loans ($34.5k).

We did all of this on our own, and I am so proud of us. With three kids, it wasn’t easy, and a lot of circumstances had to line up for us to be able to save this way. Still, the thought of writing this last big check makes me anxious, especially with everything going on economically and politically. 😔

About to pay off loans, excited (and grateful!!) but scared 💩less.

    1. That is so awesome! 🤩 will you be debt free except the mortgage after you write this payment??

we are in a similar position and I am sooo grateful.

I am very grateful that I had a wake up call to get my butt in gear about 2 years ago. We paid off some medical debt, a personal loan, two car loans, bought a new home (with equity from the sale of our first home), did some simple but necessary renovations/repairs, and bought our first enclosed camper in cash. We also have paid off 5 of 7 of my student loans. 8.5k to go until consumer debt free. So close!!!
