I have a 2013 town and country. Hit a deer on the way home from work in the early morning. No police report filed. I was less then a mile from home so i just wanted to get the car home and not have to get a tow. No other cars involved and the deer took off. Went home and went to sleep. When i woke up at 2 i took pictures of the damage which included the time stamp and submitted a claim. I wanna add that i had this insurance for about 2 months prior to the accident but a week before i changed my policy to include comprehensive because as ironic as it is my sister hit a deer and only had liability and hers was not covered and i didn’t know not every type didn’t cover deer damage. Took them 2 weeks to even find an adjuster for my case and in that time i purchased a new car because i had no way to get to work. They keep asking me to resubmit the photos with time stamp. They are being very hard to work with. So my question is when they come and check the edr what will it show? Does it have date and time to prove my case?I’ve never had an adjuster ask to access that before. There is deer fur stuck in parts of my car but i guess that wasn’t enough proof. The radiator and body work and windshield is the most damage that i can replace myself so I’m wondering if i should even bother with a claim at this point if the edr won’t show the date and time to prove my case.

Insurance wants to check EDR after hitting a deer.

    1. The EDR will almost assuredly tell the time and date of the last major impact.

FYI – I don’t know you from a hole in the wall, but if you had this accident before you added the comprehensive…man. You’re about to learn an absurdly expensive lesson.

    2. Only has insurance for 2 months. Week before accident you switched to comp collision. Liability obviously doesn’t cover Deer. Tell the truth and you’ll be fine.

Your a walking red flag lol.

Doesn’t mean you are lying, nor is your insurer accusing you of such, but they have an obligation in trust of their other clients to validate your story and the details.

So go ahead and cooperate. Unless you are lying, then you’ve got nothing to be concerned about.

I think you guys are misunderstanding what I’m saying. I want the EDR to tell date and time because i know it looks shady. I didn’t know if it did record date and time. When i google search it says it only records speed and braking and things like that and if it only shows that then I’m assuming they would deny the claim since it was so close to getting coverage. So i WANT date and time to show on EDR but didnt know if it did since google was saying different things.
