I’m a Nevada resident and plan to register the vehicle in Nevada, but I’m unclear on how the insurance should be handled. My daughter is also a NV resident, attending college full time in Georgia. My intention was to insure the car under my existing NV policy, but Progressive told me that I would need a separate Georgia policy because my daughter will be garaging the vehicle there for more than half the year. My concern is that the Nevada DMV requires vehicles registered in Nevada to be insured by a Nevada-licensed insurance company, and I’m worried that not having Nevada insurance could result in my registration being canceled. We can’t register the vehicle in Georgia since we do not have Georgia IDs or driver’s licenses.
I feel like I may be overcomplicating this, but I’ve received conflicting information and want to make sure everything is handled correctly. I would appreciate any guidance if anyone has knowledge of how this is handled. Thank you

The vehicle needs to be reregistered in GA and have GA insurance. You’ll canx your NV plates/tags turn them in then remove that car from your policy.
