I really need advice one what to do.

I unexpectedly got pregnant with my third baby, I am due in April. My husband and I pay for our insurance ourselves, we do not have it through his work. So we have an HMO plan through Anthem BCBS with a high deductible sadly, $11,000 for each individual, because insurance just sucks and we cannot afford to pay even $500 a month for a somewhat smaller deductible.

So obviously I am in the predicament of having to meet my deductible for my maternity services like labor and delivery to be covered. But I don’t know how in the heck I’m going to reach my $11,000 deductible by April. I also was told I had maternity coverage at the hospital in the town local to me, I had my first appointment with them back in September and they told me I do not have any sort of coverage with them besides emergency or urgent care services. So I get on the phone with insurance immediately after, and they told me I do not coverage anywhere within a 100 mile radius. So they the proceed to tell me that I have to travel almost 5 hours to Reno or almost 7 hours to Las Vegas for maternity services. I told them that is literally not doable, what am I supposed to do if I go into labor? Take my chances and just pray to God I make it in time?

So I’ve been traveling to Idaho to an out of net work hospital which is a two hour drive for my maternity care, which is also the same hospital I delivered my first two babies at. My hospital local to me is also not set up with a NICU and always flies babies and moms out with any complications. I do have a pre-existing health condition that raises my chances of preeclampsia, preterm labor and HELLP syndrome. So taking my chances and going to a hospital that is equipped to actually help if I do develop any of those during this pregnancy gives me a big peace of mind instead of taking my chances at a hospital local to me who will fly me out.

I’m working on applying for financial assistance at this hospital in Idaho. But I was speaking with insurance today and the lady got snotty with me and told me “if you want in-network coverage at an out of network hospital, you should have obtained a referral before becoming pregnant” I was like uh WHAT. I don’t see how they will give me a referral for prenatal care if I’m not pregnant?

It is so back and forth with them all the time. The lady I also spoke with today said “I pulled up coverage within a 100 mile radius and you have no in-network coverage around you for anything” and then said “I’m not pulling up any in-network coverage in the state of Nevada for anything sort of care” I’m like this makes no sense. I TRIPLE checked my insurance policy even when just updating before the first of the year, and made sure I had maternity care. If I look on my Sidney health app, I have maternity coverage. I’m just confused. Lost. And don’t know what to do or what to even ask anymore.

    So lost right now
