I typically introduce an “institutions” lecture with a description of good ones and bad ones, along with corruption. Talk about how some view it as a cost of doing business in certain areas of the world. I usually have to use the places you usually suspect to provide examples for what I mean (Sub Saharan Africa, SE Asia, Latin America, …).
