I think the Chinese EV market can ultimately kill the American car market in the long term.
Canada has protected American car manufactures for a number of reasons over the last decades and Trump has single handedly killed that relationship.
Bring on the Chinese EV’s, they’re fucking awesome. They’re feature rich, you can get a bunch of different models in the $8k-15k range and China has 2 or 3 battery manufacturers already manufacturing solid state batteries.
China is revolutionizing the car market and i’m here for it.

China’s EVs are better, cheaper, and easier to maintain than any of their competitors. The only thing keeping China from absolutely dominating industries like EVs and solar are the trade restrictions developed nations have put in place. By pushing away trading partners, the US tariff war has only made it much easier for China to negotiate away or reduce those restrictions.
Before it’s pointed out: Yes, I know China’s EVs and solar have been heavily subsidized by their government and that is the reason so many nations have trade restrictions. The point is that the US tariffs are undermining the global aim of curbing the China strategy of flooding the market, which will leave China in the driver’s seat in many critical industries.

Let’s all take a breath. We’re not getting $20k vehicle from China. They will be market priced. We still don’t have the infrastructure to support EV.

EV’s don’t work in Canada in the cold. I work for the industry and these batteries perform so poorly in cold weather. Good luck with those up there.
