I am currently on the SAVE plan and am planning on switching to the RAP plan when forced to. I was notified that my next income recertification date is 3/15/26, so about 60 days away. I went to try to recertify my income today, but the last step makes you select your repayment plan, and SAVE is not on there, presumably since it’s being phased out. I prefer to stay on SAVE as long as possible, so I can keep accruing $0 forbearance months to hopefully then buy back for PSLF. Does anybody understand what would happen if I don’t recertify my income until SAVE is gone and I’m forced to switch out of it? I don’t want to be relegated to the non RAP l plan just because of this weird timing issue. Thank you!

You cannot recert for SAVE and you shouldn’t have to. The date should have been extended. I recommend triple checking that you are actually on SAVE and not just the SAVE forbearance. But they could have just missed extending your date. But if you are on SAVE now and your assigned recert date passes then nothing should happen because everything about the SAVE plan is paused.
