“The Trump administration said Friday that it would temporarily delay forced collections from people who defaulted on their student loans, including wage garnishment. It also means that any tax refunds will no longer be withheld and applied to those debts.

The Education Department said the pause will give the administration more time to overhaul the student loan repayment system, which is in a state of upheaval.”

I wish they would either do it or not.

I have no qualms with them not collecting or with them onboarding forced collection for some borrowers, but the back and forth on whats happening is the worst.

Obviously, the preference is non-collection or even returning to blanket forgiveness. But…. I know this admin won’t blanket forgiveness and this supreme court won’t allow blanket forgiveness.

    4. I honestly think it’s just for publicity. Trump wants/needs a win to distract from the faltering economy as he’s been marketing this tax return season as the “largest ever”. If those returns are garnished, he loses favorability.
