    1. Lol there is a lot to be said about this development but “unexpected” is not one of them. It make far more sense longterm for China to find more reliable trade partners than the US.

    2. “But but Trump said that China was gonna buy all our beans now cause he made a trade deal!”.

China knows they can outlast Trump, and have better, far more reliable trade partners until the US sorts its shit out. They were never going to just rush back into the market, not when they knew it would hurt the US more to keep the squeeze on.

    3. People, this is clickbait. The data in the article stop at October, which is when the truce was announced. Since October, China already purchased tons of US soybeans.

      >China’s total purchases from the latest U.S. crop were now estimated at 8.5 million to nearly 10 million tons, according to traders and analysts, representing up to 80% of the 12 million metric tons that U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said China pledged to buy by the end of February.

      >On Tuesday morning, the U.S. Department of Agriculture reported private sales of 336,000 metric tons of soybeans to China for shipment in the 2025/26 season that ends on August 31, bringing China’s total confirmed purchases since October to nearly 6.9 million tons. In addition, a sizeable share of the roughly 3 million tons in sales confirmed by the USDA to undisclosed buyers is thought to be to China.

So our exports to China have almost stopped entirely. And yet the latest GDP report shows a 5%+ growth due to a decrease in imports and increase in exports.

Yeah. That shit ain;t right at all. Who is taking more of our exports to compensate for the lost business in China?

Trump supporter with an econ degree will soon tell me ‘yadda yadda’ in 5…..4…..3…..
