I live in Central Oregon. I have BCBS through my California employer. I go on Sydney and look for a PCP, but the providers they offer are not available as PCPs through the facility (ex Dr M is listed as a PCP provider on Sydney, but Dr. M now only does hospice medicine and I can’t schedule them for a general medical appt).

The PCP I was able to get through the facility is listed as an in-network provider on Sydney, however she is not listed as a PCP in Sydney. Because of this, instead of getting charged a copay for a PCP visit, I get charged coinsurance.

Does this seem legal? I feel like the facility is forcing me to choose a PCP that BCBS doesn’t recognize as a PCP in order for them to get more money via coinsurance versus a copay.
