I thought tariffs only taxed the citizens of the country that put them on.
So is this bad for the EU?

I really, really want our governments to not cave in but so far they always did.

As of 6:30 today the S&P futures were down about half a %, which is unusual, because until today they have largely ignored Trump’s antics. I guess blowing up NATO, and trying to provoke a trade war with Europe all on the same day are enough to gain the attention of even the most optimistic. My guess is that the markets will recover fairly quickly until the actual economic impact of a trade war become apparent.
The latest news indicates that he won’t back down so the TACO traders ay find out soon if their bets pan out.
