Hey everyone! How do I make them work? They won't close at all, zipper stays wide open in a v shape. I can try to take other material and sew something to both sides of the v, but I won't be able to sit down properly without ripping it open again.

Any advice? I can buy more next month hopefully but just need to get through these next few weeks. I need 2 pairs as I hand wash things and it takes 2 days to dry. If I need to walk to work in pants that get frozen due to still being wet I'm screwed, so I gotta find another way.

Advice: Got told I have to wear jeans at work, only other pair I have is 3 sizes too small

if you have a belt and can leave your shirt untucked/over the open part that might work

    2. If you happen to be 33/30 in mens, I have way too many old jeans and I’d be glad to send some if you cover shipping from MA

    3. If you are staying clean at work, you don’t have to wash them until the weekend when you have time to dry them. Spot clean as needed during the work week.

You can wash jeans by putting them in the freezer. I’ve seen people do it for years, so it could probably work for the next month

    5. Take a rubber band hook it onto the button run it through the button hole and then hook the other end back on the button. Wear a large shirt, belt or hoodie to cover the gap.

    6. When I was first pregnant, I used a rubber band / hair tie to create a button loop. Look this up if it doesn’t make sense, I found the trick online.

I know you’re not looking to spend money, but very likely you can find jeans at your local thrift shop for very cheap.

a quick temporary fix is sewing in a fabric panel behiind the zipper so it can close without stress. stretchy fabric from an old shirt works better than stiff denim. another option is wearing them unzippped with a long shirt or apron if allowed until you can replace them. avoid forciing them shut because that usually just rips seams fast.

Is secondhand an option? Many cities have organizations that distribute clothing for free

    9. Just curious, but what job requires jeans do specifically, as opposed to any other clothes you own?

    10. We have a few church run second hand stores in my town. I am sure if someone went to the little old ladies working them and said they needed a few pairs of jeans but couldn’t pay for a few weeks the ladies would happily give them some. Do you have any local second hand stores around?

    11. search Goodwill Outlet in your area, they sell clothes by the pound and have tons of jeans, you just have to dig through bins of clothes because they are not on hangers or racks. Srsly you’ll pay like $1 for a pr of jeans .

or call your local thrift store and see what there jeans prices are.

    12. What pants do you have? Can you explain to your boss that you can’t get jeans right away and that you are working on it?

    13. Buy some from Old Navy when they have a 50% off sale. About $20-$25 each and they are good jeans.

Go to Goodwill, St Vincent DePaul, or a thrift shop.

definitely do the band from button to buttonhole, or a belt. you need something to keep them up.
But also* take an old tank top, or something knit and stretchy, and cut the top off. So you have a tube of knit material. Wear that over the top of the pants to cover the open V part. it should just look like a long tank top sticking out under your shirt.

    15. Any donation bins in your area? They are a treasure trove of free stuff. Otherwise ask work mates, friends and or family.

    16. Wash and roll on a towel to get as dry as possible. Hang in the bathroom with the exhaust fan on and a fan blowing on the. Mine are usually dry on a couple hours that way.

Ask for an advancement of your salary so you can get a new pair.

Ask a friend to borrow a pair.

      Buy nothing groups.

Church donations – sometimes they have a box of donations you could maybe go through.

    18. Legally it is very likely that if they intend to enforce a uniform policy, then they have to provide you with the uniform or pay for it. Do not make it your financial responsibility. And if they don’t provide it then you probably aren’t forced to comply.

    19. If they insust on your wearing specufic clithes you don’t own, insist on the proving them or insist on an advance in your pay to only be reducing your pay over a certain amount of time that causes less hardship

Honestly, don’t wear these… Besides the high possibility of them ripping, if they’re too tight they can cause nerve damage from cutting off your circulation. (Yes, I’m being serious.)

That said, tell work that you understand this new policy, but you only have one pair right now and won’t be able to afford more until next month. Lastly, ask them politely if they’ll allow you to wear other pants to work in the meantime. *They may not be happy about it, but unless they’re buying them they have zero right to complain.*

      It’ll be okay, OP. 🙂

    21. Go on the glp subs. People are losing weight like crazy and will surely have jeans that fit you that they would be proud to pass to a good home.

    22. If you’re willing to send me your size and address I can round some up for you. I’ve gained and lost a lot of weight so I have the gamut of sizes.

    23. It seems like there is some missing information. I’ve never heard of a work place that required jeans, or is the issue your other pants were not deemed appropriate? Why can’t you just buy a pair of jeans? Looking online, Walmart women’s jeans start at $12.
