Pretty straightforward – seller wants me to pay $80 for lawn service they forgot to cancel. I didn't move into the house until 3 months after we closed so I have no idea if this service was even performed (lawn mowing). They just got the bill, and are asking me to pay. Seems like it is 0% my problem.

Former owner forgot to cancel their lawn service, who allegedly mowed our lawn shortly after we closed. Sellers want me to pay for it.

You bought a house and didn’t check to see if the yard was being maintained for three months? Really? I’d offer to split the costs with the prior owner because, whether I meant to or not, I did benefit from the lawn service.

Who did you think was doing the lawn service for the 90 days between closing and move-in? It sounds like you weren’t tending to the lawn since you ***”really have no idea if this service was even performed”***, and should be grateful you didn’t move into a house with 90 days of lawn overgrowth. I’m sure the neighbors appreciate it.

    3. It is 0% your problem. Shortly after buying my house I came home to find a lawn service had just finished a weed treatment. I was like, “I didn’t order this” and the tech seemed confused, but in the end they just ate the cost.

    4. If they forgot to cancel a magazine subscription, would you turn around and write them a check?

    5. Same thing happened to me and I told the lawn company to contact the seller. If it wasn’t in the contract it has no relevance to the transaction.

      0% your problem indeed.

This is how I got my lawn fertilized for a whole season lol. I never knew it cause I was at work. I ended up paying and subscribing

    7. Who did you think was mowing the lawn? Legally, not your problem- ethically, someone was mowing your lawn at your new house and you should pay them. Good grief. Who are you people?

Curious, what you were going to do about the grass in your absence, not realizing it was being cut?

    9. While I think the seller should pay since they didn’t cancel. I do want to know why OP never thought of lawn mowing or snow removal whatever seasonal lawn care is needed prior to moving in. How did you plan to care for your new home or did you have a service and it was mowed twice? That’s really the only acceptable answer.
